Sticky Pecan Bars

Ingredients:

Crust:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter; cut in pieces
1 large egg yolk

Filling:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
3/4 cup dark corn syrup
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups pecan halves

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°. Grease a 9" square pan.
 
Pulse flour, sugar and salt until blended in food processor. Add butter slowly; process until blended. Add egg yolk; process until blended.  Transfer to pan; flatten and press evenly over bottom and 1/2" sides of pan. Bake 10 minutes.
 
Mix brown sugar and flour until blended. Stir in corn syrup, eggs and vanilla until well mixed.
