EGG NOG

Should probably be doubled for a crowd. Can be served in a punch bowl if you like, but be careful to refrigerate it after about an hour. If you use plastic pitchers when you put it in the refrigerator, your guests can still serve themselves conveniently.

Ingredients:

2 c. sugar
6 eggs
1/2 t. salt
3 c. milk
2 cans evaporated milk (do not dilute)
1 1/2 T. vanilla
1/2 c. whipping cream
ground nutmeg

Directions:

Beat whipping cream until thick. Place in refrigerator.

Mix sugar, eggs, and salt in small bowl. Pour into blender. Add milk and vanilla and mix until well-blended and foamy. You may not be able to get all milk into blender at one time. After blending the first batch, pour part of it into serving pitcher or bowl, add remaining milk and blend about 30-40 seconds. Mix this with the first batch and stir well.

Top with whipping and nutmeg if desired.

You may add 1/2 c. bourbon, rum, or brandy to this if you so choose. Southern Comfort is an excellent choice. Or you may simply use rum or brandy flavoring if you like the taste but do not want the alcohol.
